Planning a gay interracial wedding can be a beautiful and joyous occasion, but it often comes with its own unique set of challenges. Diverse couples may face social, cultural, and familial hurdles that can complicate the wedding planning process. I often hear that couples hate having to ‘out themselves’ to every single vendor they hire. However, amidst these challenges, the support of amazing friends and family can play a crucial role in creating a loving and affirming environment. Brock and McKinley were surrounded by so much love as they said ‘I Do’.

One thing McKinley and Brock told me from the get go was that they didn’t want to look like roommates in their photos. I hear this from my couples a lot. Some photographer shy away from intimacy with LGBTQIA+ couples, but not at KEM. Being an experienced wedding photographer for both gay and interracial couples, I know it is not just about taking pictures; it’s about celebrating all the love between people with differing appearances, customs and backgrounds. I am deeply grateful for the trust Brock and McKinley placed in me to document their special day, and I look forward to continuing to celebrate and elevate diverse stories through my work. Every wedding is a reminder of the unique beauty of love, and I am honored to be a part of it.

After we shot couples photos, we were off to the reception at Madison Event Center. McKinley and Brock entered with a high-energy lip sync where they sang and danced with their guests and then settled into a night full of touching speeches, joyful conversations with their friends, and one hell of a dance floor.

All in all, this was one of my favorite weddings of the entire season. It was a joy to capture these two and I wish them nothing but the best in their future together!
